Advisory

Staff members are assigned to an advisory that meets twice during the week. During this time, staff members build students’ social and emotional skills by covering important topics related to Restorative Circles.  The advisor plays a crucial role of advocate for the student and communicates weekly with parents about school events and their child’s academics.

Each advisory lesson begins with a circle protocol, discussion, activity and news and announcements. Advisory groups also take trips together through out the year. The focus of these trips is for students and advisors to build relationships and explore places together.

Some topics that are covered during advisory time are community building, identity, building a collaborative learning environment, bullying, peer pressure, organizational skills, celebrations and academic goal setting.
